The proper documentation of employee histories is crucial to successfully preventing unwarranted unemployment charges. U.I.S. understands that assisting our clients in improving their human resource skills increases the effectiveness of our unemployment claim management program.
Many of our claims managers are experienced human resource professionals. This unique combination of understanding employment security law and human resource management, allows our claims managers to be proactive. On a claim-by-claim basis, the claim manager will give valuable insight to the employer regarding the effectiveness of their documentation.
We extend this proactive approach by making ourselves available for consultation prior to the separation of the employee. Many states have provisions within their employment statutes that can be used to the employer’s advantage. By utilizing our experience the employer can build a solid case, and enhance our ability to obtain a disqualification.
U.I.S. provides annual seminars to the employer for their management teams. These seminars are designed to reinforce good human resource practices and documentation. The managers receive training in effective documentation, and how crucial their role is to the process. Emphasis is place upon legal requirements in hiring, disciplinary and separation decisions, and the impact of these decisions on the unemployment claim.
