Claims Management

The unemployment system is based on laws and statutes established by each state’s legislature. These statutes govern the decisions made by the unemployment office.

The claim managers at U.I.S. are experts in employment security law, many of them former claim deputies. Each letter of protest is written with a specific part of the statute in mind to obtain a disqualification.

The address of record is changed and claims are directed to our offices to ensure a timely protest for every unemployment claim. The claims manager handles each part of the process. We thoroughly investigate the reason for separation and write a detailed letter of protest emphasizing the appropriate part of the unemployment statute. Documentation is provided to support the employer’s position. We assist in determining which documentation most accurately and effectively advances the employer’s argument.

U.I.S. does not rely on computer programs to protest unemployment claims. While a computer database is a valuable tool, it rarely tells the complete story. At U.I.S., the claims managers will talk to your human resource department and front line managers to completely investigate the incident leading to separation. This method leads to information that results in acquiring a disqualification.

Many times the state deputy will call the employer for rebuttal statements. These requests are generated because the claimant and employer have provided conflicting information. The claims manager will handle all of these requests. We understand the impact of these requests, and have the expertise in addressing the rebuttal. Usually we do not have to trouble the employer for additional information because a thorough investigation has already been conducted.

Finally, we monitor the decision of each unemployment claim. We assist in determining if the decision is correct and whether an appeal is warranted. The claims manager will handle all administrative duties involved with the appeal. Click here to read more about our Appeal Hearing Administration

Unemployment Insurance Services believes that the unemployment system is a complex system that requires personal interaction with the employer to be effective. Our aggressive claims management program is a partnership designed to best represent the employer’s rights in the unemployment system.
